About Amber
Baltic amber is fossil resin produced by pine and oak trees which grew in the Baltic states approximately 50 million years ago. The resin was washed out of the forest floor by large rivers and transported south towards the sea. In the course of time the resin was transformed to amber as we know it, due to polymerisation and oxidation processes.
Amber is light and warm to the touch, and readily produces static electricity when rubbed.
According to astrology, Amber is the birthstone of people born under Taurus and Leo and is known as the lucky charm of Leos.
Baltic amber has been used as gem stone since the Mesolithic Period. In the Baltic region, the ancient Rome and the ancient Greece used Amber for jewellery, for medicine and as a stone for spiritual healing and it’s said that if you leave an amber in water or wine for 1-14 days the liquid will protect against stomach-ache and asthma.
